Anonymous: We Hacked Australian Intelligence

Anonymous claims its latest hacking target was Australia's domestic intelligence agency, known as ASIO. Australian news reported the site was down for a half hour this morning, and the agency says there were technical problems—but it adds that the public site doesn't host any classified information. Thus a hack "would not represent a risk to ASIO's business," says a rep.

Hackers—who appear to have been angered by now-shelved government plans to store two years' worth of citizens' web histories—also went after the attorney general's website, as well as other government sites, AFP reports. The Twitter stream for a group known as Operation Australia said the attacks would stop tonight, "BUT we will never stop watching!" (More Australia stories.)
