About 50 people watched a shark in a cove that runs between two Massachusetts towns—until they realized they were the victims of a practical joke, the Herald News reports. The first 911 call came in about 7pm last night, attracting police and a large group of onlookers. And no wonder: Several local beaches have been closed in recent weeks because of real shark sightings.
As for the fake one: “It was Styrofoam shaped into a fin and wrapped with gray duct tape with weights holding it in place,” said a police dispatcher.
