Barack Obama's campaign may have schooled John McCain's in the art of digital networking, but McCain has come back with a vengeance. He has the highest "digital IQ" in the Senate, say researchers at George Washington and New York universities, who crunched numbers based on senators' use of Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc. In fact, his total of 625,000 Facebook fans dwarfs the rest of the pack, reports Politico.

Other findings:

  • In addition to McCain, the six others who qualified as "genius" are Republicans Jim DeMint, Scott Brown, and John Cornyn, and Democrats Al Franken, Harry Reid, and Barbara Boxer.
  • Republican senators average 5.5 "IQ" points higher than their Democratic peers.
