Tea Partiers Mass on Arizona-Mexico Border

Hundreds of Tea Party activists massed along a remote section of the Arizona-Mexico border yesterday to rally in support of the state's controversial immigration law. They demanded the federal government commit more resources to keep illegal immigrants out of the country, and listened to speeches from conservative candidates, AP reports. "It's time to stand up and say, 'We're not going to leave our country like this to our children and grandchildren,'" said Jim Howard, 61, who's retired from the Air Force.

"We will not stop screaming," said former state Sen. Pam Gorman, who's running for Congress in Phoenix and packed a gun in a holster slung over her shoulder as she spoke. The rally was held on a ranch southeast of Tucson near a spot close to Nogales, where steel border posts are set so close that people can't slip through. Activists covered the posts with tiny American flags.
