Rookies Petteri Wirtanen and Drew Miller each scored in the third quarter of the Anaheim Ducks' win over the Nashville Predators, putting their team ahead while chalking up their first NHL goals, reports the AP. Wirtanen was playing in his first game since being sent down to the AHL as the last player cut after training camp. It was Miller's third game.

"Of course, they're big goals," said coach Randy Carlyle. "I don't think any first goal in the NHL isn't big." But these rookies' scores were especially appreciated by Ducks goalie Jean-Sebastien Giguere, who stressed the importance of winning home games to build "confidence for the two big games coming up on the road."
