The arduous recovery from spinal cord catastrophe continues for Buffalo tight end Kevin Everett, who released his first statement after taking a few steps with the aid of a walker. While acknowledging the severity of his plight, it demonstrated a hope and determination in keeping with the five weeks of progress he made since the accident.

Everett can also use his feet to push himself around in a wheelchair, as attested to by an associate of his agent: "He can go from point A to B on his feet in a wheelchair. He can go as far as he wants to go." Doctors originally thought Everett might never walk again. (More NFL stories.)
