Officials in LA are scoffing at an Arizona public utilities commissioner's threat to cut the city's power because of its decision not to do business with Arizona, pointing out that the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power owns a share of the Arizona power plants that supply juice to the city. The state can't shut it down on its own, reports ABC News. "Is he talking about our power or his power? I think there's a little bit of posturing there," said city councilman Ed Reyes, co-author of the resolution to boycott Arizona.

A former DWP director adds that the city's facilities actually supply Arizona with some of its power. "We own the power and we share that power, and we should continue to share the power. It's very important for Arizona, for Nevada, California and all the West to have these relationships with power companies." (More Arizona stories.)
