Apparently cable news reigns supreme in America—and it's deeply partisan. In a new 60 Minutes/Vanity Fair poll, respondents named CNN and Fox News their most trusted news sources by a wide margin, with CNN in the No. 1 slot with 32% and Fox close behind with 29%. The big three news networks were a distant third with 13%, and the New York Times grabbed a mere 8%. Unsurprisingly, 50% of those who picked Fox called themselves Republicans, while 46% of those who picked CNN were Democrats.

The poll asked several other unrelated questions, and got some equally surprising results. For example, 24% said they'd love to see the discovery of a new, unpublished Agatha Christie novel, while only 10% said the same thing for JD Salinger—who published just four books, compared to around 80 for Christie. And a whopping 9 in 10 said they never lied to their doctors about anything—but Vanity Fair thinks it's more likely they lie to doc and pollster alike. (More Fox News stories.)
