Schools across China are scrambling to beef up security after 5 children were injured in the third school attack in as many days. In the latest tragedy, a farmer used a motorcycle to smash through a gate of a school in Shandong province and then attacked kindergarten students with a hammer, AP reports. He then grabbed two children, poured gasoline on himself, and set himself on fire.

The attacker died, but none of the children suffered life-threatening injuries. Twenty-nine children were injured when a knife-wielding man attacked a kindergarten in eastern China yesterday. (Read more China stories.)
