Florida Has Spoken: First House Win Goes to the Democrats

Democratic state Sen. Ted Deutch yesterday handily won the first US House race since Congress passed Obamacare, with 62% of the vote. In the contest for retiring Democrat Robert Wexler's seat, Deutch's GOP opponent sought to make the race a referendum on health care reform, which he lambasted as a government takeover, as well as the stimulus bill, which he said was doing little to help the economy, and the Obama timetable for troop withdrawl from Iraq, which he called "moronic". "We've heard for months that tonight is a referendum on health care, it's a referendum on the Obama administration, it's a referendum on what direction this country is going.
