Milan exploded in race riots this weekend after an immigrant from Egypt was killed during an argument with a group of South American immigrants. A group of North African immigrants rampaged through the northern Italian city, overturning cars and attacking shops owned by South Americans. Milan's deputy mayor told the Daily Telegraph the city has become a "Wild West" of fighting between North African and South American gangs.

Italian officials will now go from building to building in areas where immigrants live, checking residents' visas, and right-wing politicians have called for the rioters to be deported. "It's like something out of Los Angeles, with the gang fights between the Bloods and the Crips," an Italian newspaper said. Rioting also broke out last month in southern Italy after white youths attacked North Africans. (More Italy stories.)
