Obama to Congress: 'Let's Finish Job' on Health Reform

Citing a growing number of Republicans in his corner, President Obama is readying a final push on health care, declaring reform to be "in its final days." The president in his radio address today pushed lawmakers to act on an emerging plan that "includes the best ideas from Republicans and Democrats," noting the support of luminaries including Arnold Schwarzenegger, Michael Bloomberg, Bob Dole, Bill Frist, and Tommy Thompson.

Though some like Schwarzenegger have come out against specific Democratic proposals including the public option, Politico notes, Obama clearly sought to leverage their overarching support to push legislators into action. "These distinguished leaders understand that health insurance reform isn’t a Democratic issue or a Republican issue, but an American issue that demands a solution," he said.
