In an unprecedented move, the White House has excoriated one of its most vocal opponents in a blog post ripping Fox News. The post singles out Glenn Beck, saying his "program has shown that nothing is worthy of respect if it can be used as part of a partisan attack to boost ratings" and proceeds to refute arguments the lachrymose talking head has made using the labels "RHETORIC" and "REALITY."

Headlined "Reality Check: Trying to Turn a Point of Pride into a Moment of Shame," the entry starts by refuting Beck’s claim that Vancouver lost $1 billion "when they had the Olympics"—kind of a gimme, considering the city won't host the Games until next year—and goes on to debunk a number of other Beck arguments. And don't look for this to be the end of the standoff, Time suggests: "Since both the White House and Fox are largely trying to rally different audiences, they can both benefit by keeping this fight going."
