Hurricane Felix yesterday powered through the Caribbean, packing top winds of 100 mph. The storm, ranked Category 2, could develop into a major hurricane in the next 24 hours, forecasters warned. It was expected to veer close to the northern shores of Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao today.

Nervous  Aruba residents were buying up plywood and emergency supplies. "People are definitely worried," said a store clerk. Felix wreaked some havoc in Grenada earlier, ripping roofs off homes and damaging a concert venue. "It was very, very scary," one resident told AP. The wind was blowing so hard we thought our roof might come off." (More hurricane stories.)
