'Crying' US Journos Gird for N. Korea Trial This Week

In its latest confrontation with the US, North Korea this week will try two American journalists who were arrested by soldiers near the Chinese border in March. Reporters Euna Lee and Laura Ling will be the first Americans to ever be tried in the country. The women, who were working for Al Gore's San Francisco-based Current TV, have been accused of unspecified "hostile acts." Ling, 32, has written to her family that she "cried so much" after her arrest, according to AP.

"Now, I cry less. I try very hard to think about positive things, but sometimes it is hard to," the Californian wrote in a letter relayed to her family. The women had been working in China, researching North Koreans who flee their country. Thursday's trail comes as North Korea faces international condemnation after a nuclear test and several missile test launched last week. (More North Korea stories.)
