One of New Zealand's native parrots now has a British passport, the AP reports. The kea, one of a notoriously brazen species of alpine parrots, snatched the brightly colored bag containing the passport from the luggage compartment of a stopped tour bus and flew off into the rainforest with it. The passport's Scottish owner reported the theft and will now be enjoying New Zealand for longer than planned.

"Being Scottish, I've got a sense of humour so I did take it with humour but obviously there is one side of me still raging," he said. "My passport is somewhere out there in Fiordland. The kea's probably using it for fraudulent claims or something. I'll never look at a kea in the same way." (More New Zealand stories.)
