Hundreds of thousands cram streets in honor of World Series champs

Hundreds of thousands lined the streets of Philadelphia this afternoon to celebrate the Phillies' World Series victory. Under clear, sunny skies, the city's famously ill-tempered fans were ebullient and well-behaved, the AP reports. “It's like Christmas came two months early,” manager Charlie Manuel said. Added pitcher Jamie Moyer, who attended the team's only other World Series victory celebration in 1980 as a truant teen: “Today tops it by far.” (More World Series stories.)
