Brady Out for Season With Torn ACL

Patriots QB Tom Brady is likely out for the season with a torn ACL in his left knee. Coach Bill Belichick said he had no news on Brady's knee, which buckled when Chiefs safety Bernard Pollard struck it in today's 17-10 Patriots victory—but one team source told Yahoo! Sports, "It's bad. We’re going to have to play without him,” and the Boston Herald is quoting Brett Favre and another Jet referring to an ACL injury.

Brady stepped up to throw a pass to Randy Moss in the first quarter when Pollard, who had fallen, hit Brady's knee; it buckled just as Brady let go of the ball. Brady hobbled off the field with the help of medical personnel to undergo testing. Backup QB Matt Cassel stepped in to complete 13 of 18 for 152 yards and a TD. Cassel, who had thrown 39 passes in pro ball before today, has not started as quarterback since high school. (More NFL stories.)
