Denver Gears Up for Democratic Convention
Protesters gather at the capitol building as the city prepares for Democratic National Convention in Denver, Sunday, Aug. 24, 2008.    (Associated Press)

The Democratic convention is ready to roll in Denver tomorrow despite a few hiccups, like the 1,500 anti-war marchers who gathered outside the Pepsi Center today, the Denver Post reports. But the "Recreate 68" protesters dispersed when asked by police, returning the spotlight to the Democrats' mega-plan—which includes 25,000 volunteers and a possible appearance by Sen. Edward Kennedy, the AP reports.

Despite Denver's oil and gas money, the city fell $12 million short of the DNC's $40 million price tag—and Obama's campaign paid the rest. Now 75,000 visitors are expected to hear his acceptance speech and Denver shops are stuffed with Obama gear to reap the windfall. The city won't be quiet either: Shows ranging from "Punk Rock 2008" to "Naughty Pierre's Burlesque and Comedy Extravaganza" have been lined up to entertain evening revelers.
