Kim Jong Un Celebrates Satellite Launch With Daughter

All those who attended a Thursday banquet to celebrate North Korea's first spy satellite reaching orbit "enthusiastically cheered, expressing thanks to the great father who finally ensured the successful launch," state media reported, per the Guardian. The group included Kim Jong Un's young daughter. Photos show Kim Ju Ae alongside her father as they greeted workers with the National Aerospace Technology Administration as well as at the banquet.

At the reception, which the BBC reports was also attended by wife Ri Sol Ju, Kim said the launch "had propelled the country into a new era of space power" and noted "the possession of reconnaissance satellite is a full-fledged exercise of the right to self-defense." (South Korea says it will know within days whether the North's satellite is working.)
