UPDATE Aug 8, 2023 2:30 AM CDT

Following Mark Zuckerberg calling out Elon Musk for failing to commit to a date for their proposed cage fight, Musk tweeted Sunday night explaining why the date is "still in flux," the AP reports. "I'm getting an MRI of my neck & upper back tomorrow," Musk wrote. "May require surgery before the fight can happen. Will know this week."

For those hoping that the Mark Zuckerberg-Elon Musk cage fight weirdness might go away, well, sorry. Musk "spent much of Sunday" tweeting about the hypothetical cage fight, per the Daily Beast; among other things the owner of the company formerly known as Twitter said he's "much bigger" than the Meta founder, which gives him an advantage, and that he's been lifting weights at work throughout the day to prepare. "I build muscle fast," he said in another post; in yet another, he said the fight should be livestreamed on his site, which he now calls X, with the proceeds going to a charity for veterans, Fox Business reports.

On Sunday afternoon, however, Zuckerberg said he's "ready today" if Musk wants to fight, but that he's "not holding my breath." He said he's suggested holding the fight on Aug. 26 but that Musk hasn't confirmed the date, and he also suggested livestreaming the fight—if it does happen—elsewhere: "Shouldn't we use a more reliable platform that can actually raise money for charity?"
