The three people killed in California's latest mass shooting have been identified. Nenah Davis, 29, Destiny Sims, 26, and Iyana Hutton, 33, were killed while inside a vehicle parked outside a home believed to be a short-term rental. All three are women; ABC 7 reports that police had initially said two of the victims killed were men. Davis and Hutton were from Illinois and Sims was from Arizona, KTLA reports. No suspects are yet in custody, nor has a description of any suspects been released. Police are investigating whether there was a party or gathering going on at the Los Angeles home at the time; locals say it was often rented out for parties. Police believe the victims were targeted and they say this was the result of a "gun battle" rather than an active shooter situation. Four other people were injured in the shooting while standing outside the house; two of them are in critical condition.

At least three people were killed and four others were wounded in a shooting in California early Saturday. Sgt. Frank Preciado of the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed the shooting happened just after 2:30am in Beverly Crest, an upscale Los Angeles neighborhood, per the AP. Of the seven people who were shot, four were standing outside. The three who were killed were in a vehicle. Their identities haven't been released. Those who were injured were taken to a hospital and are in critical condition. Preciado said he didn't have information on what led up to the shooting, or if it occurred at a residence. This is at least the sixth mass shooting in California this month.
It's unclear if the suspect or suspects are in custody. The early Saturday morning shooting comes on top of three mass killings in California this month, including a massacre at a dance hall in a Los Angeles suburb last week that left 11 dead and nine wounded. The killings have dealt a blow to the state, which has some of the nation's toughest firearm laws and lowest rates of gun deaths. For the third straight year, the US in 2022 recorded more than 600 mass shootings in which at least four people were killed or injured, according to the Gun Violence Archive.
