Was It the Best Catch Ever in the NFL?

The game itself was something—the "best NFL game of the year" is how Kendall Baker of Axios describes the Vikings' 33-30 overtime win against the Buffalo Bills. He is not alone in that sentiment, and Steve Gardner at USA Today details the improbable final minutes, which included a goal-line stand, a goal-line fumble, an interception, etc. But also in there was a one-handed catch made by the Vikings' Justin Jefferson—on 4th and 18, no less—that is receiving even stronger superlatives than the game itself. "Catch of the year" is a common sentiment—see Sports Illustrated and NBC Sports. But at the Athletic, Chris Branch goes further. "After some thought, I think it’s the best catch … ever," he writes. Sure, lots of people say the honor belongs to Odell Beckham’s famous 2015 catch (also a one-hander) "but while Jefferson didn’t get interfered with, his catch Sunday was possibly more difficult and more important."
