Harry Recounts Secret Supermarket Date With Meghan

Prince Harry continues to raise his profile in his newly adopted homeland of the US, this time with an appearance on actor Dax Shepard's Armchair Expert podcast. At one point, Harry discusses an "incognito" supermarket get-together with Meghan Markle when they were first dating. "We met up in a supermarket in London pretending that we didn't know each other," he says, per People. "So we texted each other from the other side of the aisle, people looking at me and giving me all these weird looks, coming up to say 'hi,' whatever." More:

• During that encounter, Harry says he wore a baseball cap pulled low over his eyes. "I don't know how many times you've done that when you're walking down the street trying to stay incognito. It's like, 'Woah, signpost!' 'Oh, someone's dog!' It's amazing what you see. How much chewing gum you see and how many people's shoes you see. It's a mess."

• On his former life as a royal: "I was in my early twenties and I was thinking I don't want this job, I don't want to be here," Harry says, per USA Today. "Look what it did to my mom; how am I ever going to settle down and have a wife and family when I know that it's going to happen again?"
• "It's a mix between The Truman Show and being in a zoo," he adds. "I think the biggest issue for me was that being born into it, you inherit the risk that comes with it … without choice."
• Things are different in the US, he says, per CNN. "Living here now I can actually lift my head and actually I feel different. ... You can walk around feeling a little bit more free." Plus, "I get to take Archie on the back of my bicycle. ... I would never have had the chance to do that."
