Seven months after wresting control of Congress from Republicans, Democrats have failed to make good on their promises, writes the Economist. Almost none of the bills introduced in the first "100 hours" has become law, AG Alberto Gonzalez still has a job, and an Iraq pullout is nowhere in sight.

Even the landmark immigration bill, which has bipartisan support, is stalled. The Democrats have held numerous  high-profile hearings, on Gonzalez and other matters, but mostly  they've been spinning their wheels. Perhaps their only consolation is that the occupant at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. is more unpopular than they are. (More Democrats stories.)
