Sarah Huckabee Sanders re-entered the political spotlight on Monday by announcing that she's running for governor in Arkansas, reports the Democrat Gazette. The 38-year-old previously served as President Trump's press secretary, and she now hopes to become the first woman to hold the seat her father, Mike, once had. Sanders launched her bid in a seven-plus minute video in which she denounced the "radical left," notes the Hill. "I took on the media, the radical left, and their cancel culture, and I won," Sanders says in the video. "As governor, I will be your voice. And never let them silence you." The announcement is not a big surprise, with Trump himself previously saying she would make a "fantastic" governor, notes the Washington Post.

Sanders is the third Republican to enter the race, joining Lt. Gov. Tim Griffin and state Attorney General Leslie Rutledge. In the video, she actually refers to the "radical left" multiple times. “We’ve seen violence in our streets, at a congressional baseball practice and at our Capitol,” she says at one point. “The radical left’s solution is to impose government control and censorship from the top down, but their socialism and cancel culture will not heal America,” she said. “It will only further divide and destroy us." Before working for Trump, Sanders managed her father's 2016 presidential run. Current Gov. Asa Hutchinson, also a Republican, is wrapping up eight years in office and cannot run again. (Sanders wrote about how Kim Jong Un once hit on her.)
