A doorbell cam caught video of the suspects coming and going—but that won't bring back Madison Harris. Police say the 16-year-old was shot at her grandmother's home in Biloxi, Miss., after a group of teenagers broke in to steal marijuana. Media reports differ slightly, but the Biloxi Sun Herald reports that Madison was in a back bedroom with another teen, Paultavius White, when two female teens showed up and two male teens appeared in the window—one with a firearm—to commit the robbery. An investigator says the armed male passed the gun through the window to one of the girls, White wrestled her for it, and it discharged, hitting Madison in the hip. She later died on the operating table at Merit Health Hospital.

The boyfriend of Madison's grandmother says he saw the suspects on the Ring doorbell video. "One girl came in, I saw on the Ring doorbell about a half-hour before," James Waldeck tells WLBT. "And then, according to my Ring doorbell, four of them charged in an unlocked door here at the carport. And within a matter of 10 seconds, the shooting and screaming, and then them running out the door being chased by Paul, her friend, and then her dad." Police tell NBC News the alleged killers were Madison's "acquaintances." Now five teenagers—the four alleged robbers plus one who got in earlier—have been charged with capital murder. They face possible life in prison without parole rather than the death penalty, due to their age. (More murder stories.)
