Saudi Arabia's crown prince has accepted responsibility for the first time in Jamal Khashoggi's murder at the kingdom's Istanbul consulate last October—though he still claims he had no knowledge of it. "I get all the responsibility, because it happened under my watch," Mohammed bin Salman tells PBS' Martin Smith in a preview of a documentary airing Tuesday, per Reuters. The CIA has said it believes MBS ordered the murder, for which 11 Saudi suspects have been put on trial, though the crown prince denies that.
"We have 3 million government employees," he told Smith, who questioned how the killing could have taken place without the crown prince's knowledge. The interviewer asked whether the killers could have used government jets to get in and out of Turkey—and the answer was yes. "I have officials, ministers to follow things, and they're responsible. They have the authority to do that," he said, per USA Today. (These were Khashoggi's last words.)
