A Tennessee man is suing Popeyes Chicken because, he says, they ran out of chicken sandwiches. Craig Barr filed the $5,000 suit Wednesday after what he called repeated attempts to buy the sandwich at different locations, NBC News reports. "I can't get happy; I have this sandwich on my mind," he tells the Times Free Press. "I can't think straight. It just consumes you." The Chattanooga man says he was also humiliated by friends and suffered $1,500 in tire and rim damage while driving around for sandwiches. Perhaps worse, Barr says he was conned by someone who posted a Craigslist ad offering access to chicken sandwiches hidden at a Popeyes location.

Barr says he met the guy behind a Popeyes, gave him $25, and watched him go inside—but that was it. Barr says he soon followed and was told the man had left via the front door. "I got scammed," says Barr. The sandwich shortage stems from a fast-food Twitter war between Chick-fil-A and Popeyes over which has the best chicken sandwich. Chick-fil-A seemed to ridicule Popeyes' new offering by calling its own sandwich "the original," which Popeyes re-tweeted with, "...y'all good?" Other chains jumped into the fray with claims about their sandwiches. Shortages and lineups ensued, but Barr says Popeyes purposely hyped its product and fell short on quantity to attract attention. Representing himself in the case, he's due in court Oct. 28. (More fast food stories.)
