Two murder suspects believed to have committed suicide following a lengthy manhunt in Canada left behind a cellphone video, which includes their "last will and testament," according to a family member. The unnamed relative tells the Toronto Star that 30 seconds of footage—a goodbye message including the men's wishes for their remains—was shared with the families of Kam McLeod, 19, and Bryer Schmegelsky, 18. But a rep for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police wouldn't confirm the existence of the video—which the relative didn't view personally—citing an official update on the case due "in a couple of weeks." "We will not be confirming any further details in advance of that update," the rep said.
McLeod and Schmegelsky were charged with second-degree murder in the death of Leonard Dyck, 64, of Vancouver, whose body was found near a burned-out vehicle the men had been driving. They were also named as suspects in the murders of American Chynna Deese, 24, and her Australian boyfriend, Lucas Fowler, 23, in northern British Columbia, before they were found dead halfway across the country in Manitoba. Police have said little of motive, or the evidence against the pair. Indeed, Deese's brother said last week that a final answer might never come, per CTV News.
