The hunt for a missing teenager in remote Malaysia has come to a tragic end. Police have confirmed that a body found in the jungle near the resort where 15-year-old Nora Quoirin went missing 10 days ago is Nora's, reports the BBC. Authorities are working to confirm the cause of death. The London teenager, who was born with developmental disabilities, had been vacationing with her family at a resort in a remote nature preserve. On Aug. 4, her parents discovered that she was missing from her room, and the window was open. Her parents have said she would not have wandered off and suspect an abduction.
"I can confirm a body has been found in the Betembum mountains," says the state police chief, per the Sun. "It is not in an accessible place.” Parents Meabh and Sebastien, a French-Irish couple, had offered a reward of more than $10,000, and more than $120,000 had been donated to crowd-funding sites to cover the family's costs during the search, per the BBC. Police previously said they had not ruled out a "criminal element" in Nora's disappearance. (Previously, searchers found footprints.)
