A camping trip near Moab turned into a frightening experience for a young teen Friday when a bear went after him while he was sleeping and bit his face. CNN reports the attack took place at the Dewey Bridge Campground, located on the banks of the Colorado River, around dawn. "The young man was injured on his right cheek and his right ear and was transported to a hospital for treatment," a Facebook post by the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources notes.

The boy told UDWR officials the bear was about as big as he was, which means it was a relatively small bear, KUTV notes. The boy, brought first to a Moab ER and then to a Grand Junction, Colo., hospital, has already been released and will reportedly be OK. The UDWR says it found bear tracks in the sand next to the river and is using dogs and traps to try to nab the bear. Officials say it will be euthanized when found, as it went after a human. As of Saturday morning, the campground was still closed. (More bears stories.)
