A biologist is urging people to "get in the water" after she had an hour-long encounter with a barrel jellyfish as big as herself. Lizzie Daly was diving off the coast of Cornwall, on the southwest tip of the UK, when "out of the murk came this huge, beautiful jellyfish," per the Guardian. "I've never seen one that big," says Daly, whose dive was filmed by Dave Abbott as part of a fundraising campaign for the UK's Marine Conservation Society. (See the video.) "It was an absolute delight," she tells the Washington Post, which quotes an expert as saying barrel jellyfish begin life at just a millimeter in length—"so it's really incredible to see them this big." Daly tells the Guardian that she had no fear as the jellyfish has only "a very mild sting and poses no threat to humans." (More jellyfish stories.)
