Proud Boys Face Off Against Antifa Again

A Proud Boys rally attracted enough supporters and counter-protesters Saturday to make things interesting for police in Washington, DC, USA Today reports. The self-described "chauvinistic men's" group assembled a crew of about 250 but was outnumbered by liberal opponents, including roughly 50 black-clad antifa members wearing helmets. The groups shouted at each other, and antifa stormed a police barricade, but at least 100 officers kept the groups apart and no arrests were made—a far more peaceful outcome than the last Proud Boys/antifa faceoff. The scariest moment may have come when antifa protesters surrounded a man in a MAGA hat at around 12:30pm, but police grabbed the Trump supporter and pulled him from the scuffle, per the Washington Post.

The Proud Boys event was billed as a Demand Free Speech rally and featured alt-right provocateur Milo Yiannopoulos, who spoke in drag with fake breasts and a black wig and inspired waves of applause. "The left must be made to fear you," he said. "Massive brutal retaliation for the slightest of perceived insults must be the way from now on. ... If they tear down your idols, burn down their cathedrals." Meanwhile, counterprotesters held a dance party in Pershing Park to drown out what they called "the face of white nationalism and supremacy." The rally was preceded by an odd feud in which GOP congressional candidate Omar Navarro accused his ex-girlfriend of taking cocaine and "sleeping with the proud boys" and backed out of Saturday's rally, per the Daily Beast. (More white nationalism stories.)
