Police: Guy Shoots Up Mobile Home, Uses Lyft as Getaway Car
Issa Amer Ishtawi   (Portage Police Department)

Not a great idea: using a car-share service as your getaway vehicle. Police say Issa Amer Ishtawi, 20, broke into a mobile home in Portage, Indiana, fired a gun, took one of the residents outside and then fired more into the mobile home, hitting one person in the foot and hitting several other homes in the process. Then things got really bizarre: Ishtawi allegedly decided to flee the scene by ordering a Lyft. Police spotted him riding in the car soon after the incident, and the ride-share company confirms the story to NBC News.

Police found a loaded Glock .40 handgun under the passenger seat—which the "very cooperative and shook up by the entire incident" Lyft driver did not recognize—and a bag of pot in Ishtawi's backpack. Per NWI.com, Ishtawi was known to hang out with gang members and was allegedly trying to retrieve pot that had been stolen from him when he kicked in the home's door Tuesday afternoon. He faces felony charges including aggravated battery with a handgun, intimidation, possession of a pistol with no permit, and possession of marijuana—and he's been banned from Lyft.
