If a vacancy opens up on the Supreme Court next year during the presidential campaign, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell says he'll try to win confirmation for President Trump's nominee. During the last campaign, McConnell blocked confirmation for Merrick Garland, who was nominated by President Obama. On Tuesday, CNN reports, the Senate majority leader was asked at a Chamber of Commerce event in Kentucky what his position would be if a vacancy occurred on the court next year. "Oh, we'd fill it," McConnell said. In 2016, McConnell said he was blocking Garland because voters in the presidential election should be able to decide who would make the justice nomination.
