LAPD officers and ATF agents seized enough guns to equip a small nation's military after raiding a home in one of Los Angeles' ritziest neighborhoods early Wednesday. LAPD spokesman Mike Lopez says a man was arrested after the raid in Holmby Hills, which took place after officials received a tip about somebody illegally manufacturing and selling guns in the home, the Los Angeles Times reports. Lt. Chris Ramirez says more than 1,000 weapons "of various makes, models, and calibers—rifles, shotguns, pistols" were seized from the home, which is near the intersection of Beverly and Sunset boulevards, an area where the average home price is $17 million, reports NBC. (Holmby Hills, Beverly Hills, and Bel Air make up LA's "Platinum Triangle.")

"It's just beyond comprehension that somebody can have so many weapons in a residence like this in a neighborhood like this," Ramirez says. He says it's not illegal for somebody to own or store so many guns, but selling them from a home without the proper licenses is a different story. The LAPD says the suspect was arrested on suspicion of unlawful transportation, and of giving, lending, or selling an assault weapon. The home near the Playboy Mansion is owned by Cynthia Beck, former mistress of billionaire Gordon Getty, the Times reports. Sources tell TMZ that Beck hasn't been seen at the house in years, though "caretakers" have been seen coming and going. (More Los Angeles stories.)
