Trump Has Some Branding Advice for Boeing

On the heels of American Airlines' Sunday announcement that it would keep its Boeing 737 Max fleet grounded until at least Aug. 19, President Trump weighed in with some advice for the aircraft's maker. "What do I know about branding, maybe nothing (but I did become President!), but if I were Boeing, I would FIX the Boeing 737 MAX, add some additional great features, & REBRAND the plane with a new name," Trump tweeted early Monday. "No product has suffered like this one. But again, what the hell do I know?"

Politico notes that Trump has spoken highly of Boeing in the wake the deadly 737 Max crash in Ethiopia in March, calling it "one of our truly great companies of the world." Reuters calls Trump an "aviation enthusiast" who from 1989 to 1992 owned an airline called Trump Shuttle. As for American Airlines, CNBC reports its decision will affect about 1.5% of its summertime flights. (The 737 pilots in the Ethiopia flight tried again and again to regain control.)
