The new Democrat-controlled House Intelligence Committee met for the first time Wednesday and wasted no time in making some moves. The panel voted to move forward on an effort that had been previously quashed and that Committee Chair Adam Schiff had vowed to make a priority: It will send more than 50 interview transcripts from its now-closed Russia investigation to special counsel Robert Mueller. Trump associates Michael Cohen and Roger Stone were charged with lying to the committee based on two transcripts that were previously given to Mueller, reports the New York Times, and Schiff has said Mueller should consider whether additional perjury charges are warranted as part of the special counsel's investigation.

Among the transcripts that would be released would be those of interviews with Trump's eldest son, Donald Trump Jr.; his son-in-law, Jared Kushner; his longtime spokeswoman, Hope Hicks; and his former bodyguard Keith Schiller, reports the AP. Schiff also detailed a new investigation into the interplay between the president's finances and his decisions, saying that the probe will go "beyond Russia," reports CNN. Schiff said the panel will "investigate any credible allegation that financial interests or other interests are driving decision-making of the President or anyone in the administration. That pertains to any credible allegations of leverage by the Russians or the Saudis or anyone else." The Times reports the Financial Services Committee will also be involved.
