Sam Cooke was shot dead in 1964—but was it a "justifiable homicide," as the courts ruled, or a conspiracy against a prominent Civil Rights activist? That's what the Netflix docu-series ReMastered purports to reveal in its next episode, per Rolling Stone. A Los Angeles hotel manager said she shot the King of Soul when he broke into her office and assaulted her, but the show's trailer hints at a cover-up that somehow involves the FBI. "The Two Killings of Sam Cooke" will air on Netflix Feb. 8, Noise11 reports. (Meanwhile, Empire actor Jussie Smollett has spoken out after being attacked in an apparent racial hate crime.)
