Another book is coming out on Team Trump, this one from none other than Chris Christie. The Guardian has an early copy of Let Me Finish, and it highlights a part in which the former New Jersey governor accuses Jared Kushner of getting him fired from the White House as part of a political "hit job." Christie writes that Kushner is still nursing a grudge against him from events that took place 14 years ago—in 2005, then federal prosecutor Christie put Kushner's father in jail for tax evasion and witness tampering. “Steve Bannon ... made clear to me that one person and one person only was responsible for the faceless execution that Steve was now attempting to carry out," writes Christie. "Jared Kushner, still apparently seething over events that had occurred a decade ago.”

Christie did indeed get the boot as chairman of President Trump's transition team, and he says the result is that Trump ended up making bad personnel picks again and again. Christie also takes a shot at Kushner's political acumen, calling the decision to take part in the infamous Trump Tower meeting "dumb." Christie also claims that Kushner encouraged his father-in-law to fire the FBI's James Comey, assuring him that that the political fallout would be minimal. “Again,” Christie writes, “the president was ill served by poor advice.” See the Guardian for more details from the book. (Christie rankled New Jersey residents by commissioning a pricey portrait of himself.)
