The Florida man who murdered two women in a yoga studio Friday was a right-wing extremist who posted videos criticizing women, immigrants, and black people, Buzzfeed reports. Scott Beierle, who committed suicide after the rampage, had posted several self-made videos on YouTube describing women as "whores" and "sluts" who were capable of lying and treachery. "I'd like to send a message now to the adolescent males ... that are in the position, the situation, the disposition of Elliot Rodger, of not getting any, no love, no nothing," he says in one video, referring to the mass murderer considered a model for "incels"—men who describe themselves as involuntarily celibate. "This endless wasteland that breeds this longing and this frustration."
Along with the videos—which YouTube has taken down—Beierle posted songs on Soundcloud with titles like "Bring Your Fatwa," "American Wigger," and "Who Let the Fags Out?" In the lyrics he describes a woman using the c-word, keeps another woman chained in his basement to rape her, and sings: "To hell with the boss that won’t get off my back / To hell with the girl I can’t get in the sack." Tallahassee police won't say whether Beierle, a 40-year-old military veteran, targeted his victims or if his videos are being investigated. His two victims were Dr. Nancy Van Vessem, 61, an internist and medical director for Capital Health Plan, and Maura Binkley, 21, a student at Florida State University, per the Miami Herald. Five others were injured in the Tallahassee attack. (Beierle had been arrested before.)
