Melania Trump issued a statement in support of LeBron James just hours after her husband attacked the basketball phenom in a scathing tweet Saturday, CNN reports. "It looks like LeBron James is working to do good things on behalf of our next generation and just as she always has, the First Lady encourages everyone to have an open dialogue about issues facing children today," says Stephanie Grisham, Melania's spokeswoman. She adds that Melania is "open to visiting" James' "I Promise" school for at-risk kids in Akron. By contrast, Trump tweeted earlier that "Lebron James was just interviewed by the dumbest man on television, Don Lemon. He made Lebron look smart, which isn't easy to do. I like Mike!"

Trump's "I like Mike" line apparently referred to Michael Jordan, who quickly issued a statement of his own, the Chicago Tribune reports: "I support Le Bron James," says Jordan. "He's doing an amazing job for his community." Lemon also spoke up with the tweet, "Who's the real dummy? A man who puts kids in classrooms or one who puts kids in cages? #BeBest." Trump's fellow Republican, Ohio Gov. John Kasich, tweeted: "Rather than criticizing @KingJames, we should be celebrating him for his charity work and efforts to help kids."
