Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani made the case in public interviews Monday that "collusion is not a crime." On Tuesday, Trump echoed the point: "Collusion is not a crime, but that doesn't matter because there was No Collusion (except by Crooked Hillary and the Democrats)!" he tweeted. As CNN notes, Trump said much the same last year, but the new assertions from him and Giuliani hint at a developing legal strategy. Not that it's necessarily airtight: The network quotes legal experts who say that if collaboration with Russians is eventually proven, conspiracy charges could result.

As for Giuliani, he now says that his long interviews Monday on Fox and CNN were his attempt to get out in front of a New York Times story, reports the Daily Beast. Giuliani says reporters including Maggie Haberman were asking question about a supposed strategy meeting held two days before the famous Trump Tower meeting of 2016. Haberman isn't saying much about that: "We don't talk about sourcing, and wouldn't now—but I have lost the thread of what the former mayor is talking about." (Michael Cohen says Trump himself knew of the Trump Tower meeting in advance.)
