President Trump may not see much of a blimp that plans to soar over London next week to mock him. The president arrives in Britain Thursday, but his itinerary will largely keep him out of the capital city and away from protesters, reports the Guardian. Trump will spend one night in London, staying at the US ambassador's residence on Thursday. But his three major events—talks with Prime Minister Theresa May at her country retreat, a meeting with Queen Elizabeth at Windsor Castle, and a dinner at the home of the late Winston Churchill—will be outside the city, reports Reuters.
About 50,000 people have signed up to protest against Trump in London. “No, the president is not avoiding anything,” Woody Johnson, the US ambassador to the UK, tells reporters. “The president is merely trying to get as impactful a trip as he can get in a 24-hour period.” Trump is expected to visit Scotland, where his mother was born, when he leaves London. No itinerary is out yet for that leg of the trip, but Trump is expected to do some golfing. (More President Trump stories.)
