Entertainment / Avengers Avengers' Credits Reveal a Hidden Cameo Co-directors Russos plant character who looks like Tobias Funke of 'Arrested Development' By John Johnson, Newser Staff Posted Apr 30, 2018 8:01 AM CDT Copied This image released by Marvel Studios shows, from left, Benedict Cumberbatch, Robert Downey Jr., Mark Ruffalo and Benedict Wong in a scene from "Avengers: Infinity War." (Marvel Studios via AP) Buried within the film credits for the new Avengers blockbuster, Infinity War, is a note that the movie made use of a character from the TV show Arrested Development. What on earth? Polygon explains the movie's "weirdest Easter egg." It seems that co-directors Joe and Anthony Russo once worked on the show and paid homage by placing a background character who resembles a painted "Tobias Funke" in a scene involving the Collector's museum. See for yourself in this tweeted image. For the uninitiated, it's a reference to this, a running plot line in Arrested Development in which Tobias tries out for the Blue Man Group. Sharp-eyed fans actually spotted it in a previously released clip, but the reference in the film's credits confirms the connection. The cameo is easy to miss, notes Mashable, which points out that the Russo brothers also placed the Bluth family stair car (also from the show) in Captain America: Civil War.
