President Trump's hope of becoming friends with Kim Jong Un seems unlikely to pan out now that the North Korean regime has suggested he should, well, die. An editorial published Wednesday in a state run newspaper says Trump is guilty of criticizing North Korea's society, lifestyle, and history in a speech to the South Korean parliament last week, reports Newsweek. But "the worst crime for which he can never be pardoned is that he dared [to] malignantly hurt the dignity of the supreme leadership," the editorial reads, per the Guardian, in a clear reference to a Sunday tweet in which Trump said, "Why would Kim Jong-Un insult me by calling me 'old,' when I would NEVER call him 'short and fat'?"

"He should know that he is just a hideous criminal sentenced to death by the Korean people," the editorial says. "He will be forced to pay dearly for his blasphemy any moment." The editorial also calls Trump a coward, referring to his failed visit to the demilitarization zone dividing North and South Korea. Though his helicopter was forced to turn back due to bad weather, the editorial claims Trump "was just too scared to face the glaring eyes of our troops." With the AP reporting that China will send a special envoy to North Korea on Friday, Trump referred Wednesday to his Asia visit as "tremendously successful," per USA Today. "Our great country is respected again in Asia," he tweeted Thursday. (More North Korea stories.)
