Obama Is Going Back on the Campaign Trail

For the first time since he departed the White House, Barack Obama is going on the campaign trail. He'll appear with Virginia Lt. Gov. Ralph Northam, who is running for governor of the state against former RNC chair Ed Gillespie, at a rally in Richmond Oct. 19, Politico reports. As Vox explains, of the few races this Election Day that are competitive for Democrats, this is "arguably the most important one in which Obama can make a difference." Northam has a lead of between 4 and 13 points in recent polls. Obama is also expected to campaign in another close race Democrats are expected to win, as Phil Murphy seeks to become New Jersey governor. (More Barack Obama stories.)
