President Trump and James Comey (or at least Comey's surrogates) have different versions of a private dinner back in January. For one thing, the White House denies claims the president sought and failed to get a pledge of personal loyalty from the then-FBI chief. Now Trump is firing back on his favorite venue. "James Comey better hope that there are no 'tapes' of our conversations before he starts leaking to the press!" the president tweeted. Then he added, referring to allegations his campaign worked with the Russians during the election: "When James Clapper himself, and virtually everyone else with knowledge of the witch hunt, says there is no collusion, when does it end?" (Clapper is the former director of national intelligence.)

Trump also made two provocative tweets regarding press coverage of his administration, notes USA Today. "As a very active President with lots of things happening, it is not possible for my surrogates to stand at podium with perfect accuracy!" he wrote, before dropping a threat: "Maybe the best thing to do would be to cancel all future 'press briefings' and hand out written responses for the sake of accuracy???" If a post at Axios is any guide, Trump himself would miss the briefings. The item, which suggests that Trump is displeased with spokesman Sean Spicer, says Trump regularly tunes into them during lunch. "He shushes his visitor and turns up the volume when the briefing starts, and critiques the exchanges like it's SportsCenter." (More President Trump stories.)
