Glenn Beck has joined a chorus of voices expressing deep concern about Donald Trump's appointment of Steve Bannon as his chief strategist, Mediaite reports. Beck, who rose to prominence much like Bannon did—as a fiery, fear-mongering voice in conservative circles—minced no words Monday, calling Bannon "a terrifying man" and "a nightmare" in a video you can see here. Beck claims Bannon has a "clear tie to white nationalists" through his website, Breitbart News. Bannon served as campaign CEO for the later stages of Trump's tumultuous campaign. Although he lost out on the chief of staff job to RNC chairman Reince Priebus, pundits expect that as chief strategist, Bannon will still wield considerable influence within Trump's administration.

In case you missed it, Beck has toned down his views of late, and some conservatives regard his newfound moderate views as treasonous. When he recently sat for an interview with the New Yorker, he was accompanied by two bodyguards due to numerous death threats he'd received. "These people scare the hell out of me," he said, referring to the alt-right movement often associated with Bannon's Breitbart News. As for Trump himself? Beck told the New Yorker that a meeting with the then-candidate at his Mar-a-Lago estate left Beck with the impression that "this guy is dangerously unhinged. And, for all the things people have said about me over the years, I should be able to spot Dangerously Unhinged." (More Donald Trump stories.)
